KEYNOTE SPEAKER

ARCHBISHOP JOHN QUINN

Named bishop in 1967 at the age of 38, the youngest of his time, Archbishop Quinn served as auxiliary bishop of San Diego and bishop of Oklahoma City. Promoted to archbishop in 1972 he headed the Archdiocese of San Francisco for 18 years and presided over the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, the governing body of American bishops, from 1977 to 1980. Since stepping down from his San Francisco post, he preaches at different parishes, conducts retreats for priests, lectures throughout the country, and recently led a graduate seminar in ecciesiology at the University of San Diego.

Our time together will be spent in meaningful prayer, stimulating presentations, reflecting on and sharing experiences, small group sharing and future planning.

Located on 56 acres of beautifully landscaped historical grounds of Old Mission San Luis Rey and only four miles from the Pacific Ocean, Mission San Luis Rey offers a quiet place to rest, relax and be renewed. There are 50 guest rooms (double occupancy only). If you have someone with whom you wish to share your room please list their name on the registration form; otherwise you will be assigned a room-mate. There is a registration limit of 100 on a first come/first serve basis. Fee includes 2 nights stay. Registration is from 3:00 PM Friday Meals will be served in the Mission Dining Room (Friday dinner; Saturday breakfast, lunch, and Sunday breakfast). Saturday dinner will be at the Conference Center.

Marty's Valley Inn is located 5 minutes from the Mission. Prices range from $65 to $80 per night and may be subject to change. Call the hotel directly and mention the NAPRC Conference when calling.  All rooms include complimentary continental breakfast. The hotel restaurant also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner A box lunch can be provided at the Conference on Saturday for $8.00. The Conference Fee includes dinner on Saturday evening for all participants at the Conference Center.

Conference

The Conference will be held at the Conference Center of Mission San Luis Rey Parish which is adjoining the Mission Retreat Center. It is an easy walk from the Mission to the Conference Center, but those staying at Marty's Valley Inn will need to drive. Vans will be provided each morning and evening for those without vehicles.

Travel

Mission San Luis Rey and Marty's Valley Inn are located 45 miles north of the San Diego airport. Vans will be provided by the local Small Church Communities for your convenience at the start and conclusion of the Conference. If you will need this service, please include your airline arrival and departure information with the Registration Form.

3:00-5:30 PM   Pre-Conference Introduction to the Basics of Restructuring the Parish Presented by NAPRC Board Members Msgr. Neal Dolan and Brother Bob Moriarty, this session is strongly recommended for those who have not attended a Beginning Workshop.
